i was beginning the second half of my freshman year at Duncan Polytechnical High School. i was awkward and skinny and weird. i read a lot (still do). i watched TRL on MTV when i got home from school. i usually walked home from school because i hated taking the FAX bus. the Minnesota Vikings were my favorite football team because i really liked Randy Moss. the New York Jets were a close second because i also liked Wayne Chrebet.
in the fall of 1999, a new high school opened and my dad forced me to attend it, and i’m glad he did. i ended up doing pretty well at Sunnyside.
in my household, i was responsible for doing the laundry so during the summer when i had to hang the wet clothes on the clothesline, i would open my bedroom window and play Tragic Kingdom really, really loud. Mirrorball also received heavy rotation on my stereo this year.
the movie i liked most in 1999 was The Mummy. i thought it was so cool. i went with my family to the theater to see it, something that we rarely did since it was so much cheaper to rent a movie and stay at home.
while i attended Duncan, i met Monica Rodriguez and now she is my BFF. love her!
as far as musical taste goes, i’m still mostly the same. i’ve expanded a lot but i still like the same stuff i did at 15. my favorite pastime is still reading. i think i’m a lot cooler now, though. definitely far less awkward. still (thankfully) pretty weird. :)
